He is best known for his signature style of “sampled realism”—a technique where smooth gradients are broken down into stepped, flat bands of colour, similar to topographic map curves or low-resolution digital images. Up close, the subjects fragment into graphic shapes; from a distance, they snap into vivid, recognisable scenes. For Marco, these intentional gaps of detail reflect modern digital life, exploring what gets lost in translation while giving the viewer space to complete the picture themselves.
